Biggest online news site in Lithuania
15min.lt is one of the largest news sites in Lithuania with the audience of over one million unique users per month.
While media consumption habits have been radically changing during the recent years, 15min.lt noticed that their current site and its navigation were rather dated. The number of readers browsing on the landing page had dropped dramatically and the main navigation menu was used by mere 13% of total readers.
15min.lt trusted us with a challenge to give the site a face-lift and create a more interactive and up-to-date UX.
Having analysed readers’ behavior, we designed a new more intuitive and more responsive navigation mechanism. Main navigation sections were put on the top of the webpage with the remaining navigation sections packaged into a “burger-style” menu allowing readers to view most current news stories in short without clicking on them. The approach we choose for updated navigation mechanism yielded us with extra free space on the landing page that could be capitalised on for promoting “interesting” content as well as partner sites.
Interface of the site was updated to have a sleek and modern look. We also employed informative image-based icons that facilitate users navigation and allow to find their favorite functions even faster.
To ensure complete update to the UX we also improved the way news stories are sorted. A new menu and an improved categorisation system were introduced as a result.
The entire website has been adjusted to have a better display on wide screens. All news articles are now created in six different formats.
The updated look of 15min.lt allows user to better concentrate on articles they are reading. Upon finishing one story readers can seamlessly continue browsing at the bottom of a page, with an endless menu giving them a continuous feed of relevant news stories.
